Dallin's Middle School Synchronized Swimming

ISR Duri MS Synchronized Swimming

Click on the the link above.  One of the great benefits of living in such a small community with an equally small school is doing super cool things like this for PE class.  Yes, that's Dallin at the end :)

Church on Sunday

This last Sunday, during our primary meeting, Mike was teaching the children about the Resurrection.  The week previous had been about the Atonement of Jesus Christ and his crucifixion.  This is a topic of great importance to Mike and I and it was a very special opportunity for us to bear testimony to our children about how much the Savior, Jesus Christ means to us.  To explain to them how much we love Him because of His great sacrifice for us.  After the lesson we sang "He Sent His Son".  As we sang, and I led the music, I looked at each of my children in turn, and saw Eden weeping quietly to herself.  She wasn't able to sing so she just sat there as tears streamed down her sweet face.  Mike went and sat next to her through the rest of the song.  Halfway through, I found myself unable to continue singing as well for my heart was so full.  Afterward, we asked Eden what she was feeling that would make her cry so.  It was very special for us to hear her feelings about Jesus Christ, her sorrow at what he suffered and her gratitude and love for Him.  It was wonderful to explain to her that she was feeling the Holy Ghost.  That the Holy Ghost speaks to our hearts and confirms truth.  I'm so grateful to have witnessed my daughters testimony about the Savior grow a little more that day.

East Meets West Performance

This was a multi-cultural event that was put on by the Women's Association here in Duri.  There was food from many countries and performances as well.  This is a video of Marion and Eden participating with the Girl Scouts - We are family!

Family Home Evening

Two weeks ago, Eden was in charge of the lesson for our family home evening.  She put together a very nice lesson about the importance of families and why Heavenly Father sent us to earth in families. She expressed gratitude for the family she had been sent to and then she and Marion sang this little song.  They were so excited to preform this after working on it for an entire day (Most of Sunday)!!

Arisan

The Indonesian ladies in camp, whose husbands work out at the Co-gen plant all get together once a month for an Arisan.  They come together to eat and socialize mainly, but they will also have a money drawing and sometimes they will arrange a topic to discuss or have a guest come speak about something.  Mike is the only foreign guy who works out at the Co-gen so I have attended a couple of these and become acquainted with a few of these good ladies.  As you will see in the photos, they all bring their little ones and everyone just sits on the floor eating and chatting.  This particular event was hosted by my friend Dewi who is not seen in any of the photos.

Jupiter Juice

My darling Eden went to a birthday party and came home with this very exciting party gift called "Jupiter Juice".  Oh, how cleverly named!!  Yes, it is out of this world...heehee!  Unfortunately, my little creative one thought it might be even more galactic in her hair.  No my friends, there is no super awesome soap from Mars that makes this come out easy!  She was quite embarrassed, but she made such a cute little alien mess!

First day of School 2012

Back to school!  Believe it or not, after a super fun and busy summer, we were all really excited to get back to the routine of school.  Especially Emmalyn who was beginning Kindergarden.  Look at that CHEESY smile!!  Love it!  Dallin began 6th grade this year, Eden 4th, and Marion 2nd.  They love their teachers and have lots of new and old friends.  It's going to be a great year!

Goldilocks and the 3 Bears

This was from a while back, but I wanted to make sure that I had a copy of it from the schools site, so I'm posting it here now.  The school has a buddy system with the older and younger kids and this play is a product of something they did together.
